শৈশব, কৈশোর কেটেছে গ্রামের কোলাহল জড়িত প্রাকৃতিক পরিবেশে। সবুজ ঘনবন, ধানখেত, পাখির কিচিরমিচির আর সুরমার কলকল ঢেউয়ের মাঝে কবি বড় হয়েছেন। এর মধ্যেই খুঁজে পেয়েছেন কবিতার নির্যাস, তার পঙক্তিমালা। মাধ্যমিকে পড়ার সময়ে তিনি তার পারিবারিক লাইব্রেরিতে ডুবে থাকতেন।এখানে পড়েছেন সোভিয়েত ইউনিয়নের ইতিহাস, প্লেটো, এ্যারিষ্টটল, লেনিন। এই সময়ে ম্যাক্সিম গোর্কি, নেহেরু, সুকান্ত, বঙ্কিম, শরৎচন্দ্র, সৈয়দ ওয়ালীউল্লাহ, রবীন্দ্রনাথ ও নজরুলের বিভিন্ন রচনাবলীর সাথে তার পরিচয় ঘটে। ম্যাক্সিম গোর্কির মা, নেহেরুর মা মনিকে বাবা, ওয়ালীউল্লাহর লালসালু বই তিনটি কবি মনকে ভীষণ ভাবে নাড়া দিয়েছিল। সমাজ, মানুষ, প্রকৃতি সম্পর্কে গড়ে উঠেছিল এক গতিশীল ও ঋদ্ধ মানসিকতা।
কবি শৈশব থেকেই সংস্কৃতির প্রতি অনুরক্ত ছিলেন। খেলাধুলা, গান, নাটক, যাত্রাপালা তার মনকে দোলা দিত। কৈশোরাবস্হাতেই কবি তবল বাদক হিসেবে বিভিন্ন সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠানে অংশগ্রহণ করতেন। উদ্ভাবন, আঁকিবুঁকি, আবৃত্তি, গান, নৃত্য, বাগান করা ও ফটোগ্রাফির প্রতি তার রয়েছে বিশেষ সখ। স্কুলের গন্ডি পেরিয়ে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে ভর্তি হলে তার সামনে এক নতুন দিগন্ত খুলে যায়। তিনি একটি বর্ধিষ্ণু সংস্কৃতির সাথে পরিচিত হন। এবং নিজেকে নতুনভাবে ভাবার সুযোগ পান।
পিতা-রমেশ চন্দ্র দাশ ও মাতা-বাসন্তী বালা দাশের ঘরে জন্ম নেওয়া কবির মূলত বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় জীবন থেকেই লেখালেখির শুরু। তার প্রথম লেখা প্রকাশিত হয় সাপ্তাহিক সেবা নামে একটি পত্রিকায় আমলাতন্ত্রের সমস্যায় বাংলাদেশঃএকটি তাত্ত্বিক আলোচনা, এই শিরোনামে ১৯৯৫ সালে। ছয় ভাইয়ের মধ্যে কবি সর্ব কনিষ্ঠ। কবিতা কবির জীবনকে আষ্টেপৃষ্টে বেঁধে আছে। তার মাথায় সর্বক্ষণ কবিতা দোল খায়, ঘুরঘুর করে। তিনি ছন্দ ভেঙে ছন্দ গড়তে জানেন।
তার লেখাগুলো নিয়মিত সাহিত্যের বিভিন্ন পাতায় প্রকাশিত হয়। এর মধ্যে বিভিন্ন সাহিত্য পত্রিকা, ওয়েব পোর্টাল, ওয়েব ম্যাগাজিন, ছোট কাগজ রয়েছ। আন্তর্জাতিক সাহিত্য পত্রিকা নতুন তারা, ওয়েব পোর্টাল সকালের আলো, ওয়েব ম্যাগাজিন—কান্তার পল্লী, চন্দ্রমুখী, স্বভাব, শব্দনগর, ক্যাসিওপিয়া, শৈলদীঘি, অর্বাচীন, সাহিত্যাঙ্গনে তার অনেক কবিতা প্রকাশিত হয়েছে। তিনি ক্যাসিওপিয়া সাহিত্য পত্রিকার সেরা লেখক সম্মাননা পেয়েছেন।
তিনি মূলতঃ কবিতার চাষি। সর্বক্ষণ কবিতার চাষে ব্যস্ত থাকেন। সাহিত্যের ছোট কাগজ চোখ সাহিত্য পত্রিকা, ঋষি-তে তার কবিতা প্রকাশিত হয়েছে। অনেক ওয়েব ম্যাগাজিন ও কাগজে তার কবিতা প্রকাশের অপেক্ষায় আছে। তিনি পথিক কবি। সুনীল আকাশের নীচে মেঠো পথে কুমারী জ্যোৎস্নায় হাঁটতে হাঁটতে কবিতা লিখেন। তার কবিতায় পরাবাস্তবতা, প্রকৃতি, প্রেম, সামাজিক অসামানঞ্জতা, দ্রোহ ও মানবতার গভীর ছোঁয়া পাওয়া যায়। পৃথিবীর স্বাদ, রস ও সৌন্দর্যকে তিনি পাঠকের সামনে নতুন করে তুলে ধরার চেষ্টা করেন যা পাঠক মনকে আন্দোলিত করে, গভীর ভাবে দোলা দেয়। তার কবিতার ব্যাপক পাঠকপ্রিয়তা রয়েছে। তার দুটি যৌথ কাব্যগ্রন্থ প্রকাশিত হয়েছে। এর মধ্যে একটি সাধের খাতা অনুকাব্য গ্রন্থ ও অন্যটি অমরত্বের পথ।
করোনার কারণে ২০২১ বইমেলায় তার কোন বই বেরুয়নি। তবে তার কতগুলো কবিতার বই প্রকাশের অপেক্ষায় আছে। কবিতা ছাড়াও তিনি গান, ছড়া ও গল্প লিখেন। স্ত্রী রাজশ্রী পৈত্য এবং দুই কন্য রাই ও শ্রী’কে নিয়ে তার সুখের সংসার। তিনি বর্তমানে একটি সরকারি কলেজে শিক্ষকতায় নিয়োজিত রয়েছেন।
