একুশে পদকপ্রাপ্ত খ্যাতিমান কবি অসীম সাহা আর নেই। আজ (১৮.০৬.২০২৪) মঙ্গলবার দুপুর পৌনে ২টার দিকে তিনি বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিব মেডিকেল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে (বিএসএমএমইউ) চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় শেষ নিঃশ্বাস ত্যাগ করেন।
অসীম সাহার ঘনিষ্টজন কবি মাহবুবা রহমান লাকী জানান, বর্তমানে অসীম সাহার মরদেহ বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিব মেডিকেল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় হাসপাতালে রাখা হয়েছে।
কবি অসীম সাহার বয়স হয়েছিল ৭৫ বছর। স্ত্রী সঙ্গীত শিল্পী ও কবি অঞ্জনা সাহা এবং দুই ছেলে অভ্র ও অর্ঘ্যসহ অসংখ্য ভক্ত-অনুরাগী রেখে গেছেন।
চলতি বছরের শুরুর দিকেই গুরুতর অসুস্থ হয়ে হাসপাতালে ভর্তি হয়েছিলেন কবি অসীম সাহা। চিকিৎসকরা তখন জানিয়েছিলেন, বিষণœতায় ভুগছেন কবি। এছাড়াও, তিনি পারকিনসন (হাত কাঁপা রোগ), কোষ্ঠকাঠিন্য ও ডায়াবেটিস রোগেও আক্রান্ত ছিলেন।
১৯৪৯ সালের ২০ ফেব্রুয়ারি মামারবাড়ি নেত্রকোণা জেলায় জন্ম গ্রহণ করেন কবি অসীম সাহা। পড়াশোনা করেন ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বাংলা সাহিত্য বিভাগে।
সামগ্রিকভাবে সাহিত্যে অবদানের জন্য ২০১২ সালে তিনি বাংলা একাডেমি সাহিত্য পুরস্কার লাভ করেন। পরে বাংলা ভাষা ও সাহিত্যে অবদানের জন্য ২০১৯ সালে বাংলাদেশ সরকার তাকে একুশে পদকে ভূষিত করে। এছাড়াও তিনি সাহিত্যের বিভিন্ন ধারায় অসামান্য অবদানের জন্য আরও ১০টি পুরস্কার অর্জন করেন।
কবি অসীম সাহা ২০টির অধিক গ্রন্থ রচনা করেছেন।
